Description

Porcelain Veneers: WHY

Countless people wish they could improve their unattractive, stained, chipped, or unevenly spaced teeth. Undoubtfully, having an appealing smile can help you be more confident in your social, personal and professional life. Having a great smile, can be a gift from nature or a talented dentist’s art.

Porcelain veneers can be a wonderful option if you want a discreet and reliable way to upgrade the appearance of your smile. Looking either for a natural looking, almost undetectable change in your smile or a total smile makeover, porcelain veneers are the ultimate game changer.

If you want to really upgrade your smile, in a conservative way that it would last for at least 15 years, porcelain veneers are an one-way road

Porcelain Veneers: WHAT

The porcelain veneers that we use in Smiledesigners.gr are IPS e.max by Ivoclar, the highest quality porcelain material made up of mainly lithium disilicate and quartz.

What is so special about this ceramic is that it is both strong (up to 400MPa) and aesthetic. E.max allows us to make restorations that are far less thick, down to 0,3mm, almost like a contact lens, the most conservative treatment in prosthetic dentistry. Veneers made of e.max are tough, durable and lifelike even though they are just a thin layer.

E. max veneers can really look like a real tooth, color and shape wise. Since there is no metal underneath, there will never be a blackline at gumline and are totally biocompatible.

Porcelain Veneers: WHEN

Porcelain Veneers are very thin porcelain shells (0.3mm) that are bonded onto the visible side of the tooth. Depending on your unique needs, dental veneers can be made to mask a wide range of superficial imperfections such us:

-spaces between teeth

-cracks, multiple fillings, old discolored restorations

-aged and worn-down teeth for a youthful smile

-miscolored teeth that resist whitening

-misplaced or crooked teeth

Dental porcelain veneers can give you the youthful, radiant smile you once had or even better, you wished for. It is the best and more predictable way for a smile make over although they can be used, also, on selected teeth depending on the treatment plan.

Porcelain Veneers: HOW

Health of periodontal tissue is essential, so a thorough dental cleaning is the first step.

Then the esthetic dental plan has to be settled in order to have a reliable and predictable outcome. This can be achieved either by selecting information by video, photos, casts or digital smile design. The success relies on the multitasking collaboration between the dentist, the dental technician and the patient.

On the first actual dental appointment, little topical anesthesia is used, to work at ease and in a comfortable way for both parties. Just a little portion of the external surface of the teeth is removed (0.3mm minimum) in order to facilitate the insertion and placement of the porcelain veneers.

An accurate mold is taken from the prepared teeth and sent to the lab. Temporary veneers are placed and the patient is ready to return at his/hers daily routine.

After the preselected time (3-8 days), it is time for the second appointment.

Temporaries are removed and the porcelain veneers are tried on. If the result is satisfactory, the permanent bonding of the veneers is taken place. If changes are need to be done, the permanent bonding takes place after the changes are done, one or two days after the try in.

You are ready to go, with your brand new smile!

Porcelain Veneers: AFTER

Porcelain veneers can last for a very long time, up to 15-20 years, since there is no “for-ever” in dentistry. Regular annual visits to the dentist for a dental cleaning and a check-up, along with a daily effective cleaning routine (brushing and flossing), are the essentials for the long-lasting success.

A lot of times, a protective night mouthguard is recommended, especially when bite problems are existing.
